Buying from the exhibition This work is part of Contemporary Images of the Holme Valley at Holmfirth Artweek, an exhibition by Holmfirth Photo Social. Sales for all photographers in the show are handled here through Black Hill Creative, with each sale going to the photographer and 20% of the sale price donated to Holmfirth Artweek. Sold works stay on display for the full run of the show, 5 to 11 July, and are collected from the venue on Sunday 12 July. Collection only, no postage.
David Walker is a documentary and industrial landscape photographer from Penistone, Sheffield in the United Kingdom. His work is driven by the use of original Black and White photographic techniques, equipment that was around before the age of digital photography, Analogue as its now known today, but it was just Film Photography when he started in his early teens, 1980’s.
While digital has its place in his work flow, it is the historical processes that he loves. Leaving behind today’s fast-moving society, analogue photography allows one to slow down and take time, plus it is fun using equipment of yesteryear.
A collector of vintage camera equipment, they were made to be used and used they are. The oldest camera in the collection is an 1890 Thorton Pickard 1/2 glass plate camera and after some restoration, is used as intended shooting Wet Plate Collodion, Dry Plates and Paper Negatives.
